Have you heard anything about what’s going on in Baltimore? The name Freddie Gray may sound familiar. You may have seen images in the news of big crowds holding signs, lines of police officers, people running away from tear gas, groups holding hands, people of all ages and races sweeping garbage off the streets, and other things.
Here’s what President Obama said on the subject: “If we really want to solve the problem, if our society really wanted to solve the problem, we could. It’s just it would require everybody saying this is important, this is significant . . . We’re paying attention all the time because we consider those kids our kids, and we think they’re important.”
Here is a video of Obama’s full speech. You may want to watch this with your parents, so they can help you understand everything he is talking about (there are some pretty big words in there, even for me!)
